Monash University Malaysia. We are the third largest campus of Monash University - a premier research-intensive Australian university ranked among the top 100 universities in the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and a member of Australia’s prestigious Group of Eight (Go8). Monash University is also ranked 58 in the QS 2020 World University Rankings. Established in 1998, Monash Malaysia is the third largest campus of Australia's largest university and the first foreign university campus in Malaysia.

A self-accrediting university, our campus offers a distinctly international and culturally rich environment with approximately 8,400 students from 78 different countries. Students are taught by highly qualified academic staff from across the world and the same rigorous standards are applied at the campus as at other Monash campuses.

Global presence and industry partnerships
As a globally-connected university, Monash University has more than 100 partner universities around the world, and campuses on four continents – Australia, Asia, and Europe. Students can take advantage of international mobility schemes as part of their course.

Monash Malaysia has established strong links with industry and government, and serves as a platform for research and education engagement with Southeast Asia and beyond. From collaborating with industry partners to create safer medical devices to partnering with Sunway Medical Centre to grant students internship opportunities, we are at the forefront of research and education which seeks real-world solutions to address national and international priorities.

Our priorities
The campus is committed to making a positive impact on society and improving the human condition.

To this end, we have established several multidisciplinary research platforms that enable scientists in the region to work on global challenges in the following key areas: Tropical Medicine and Biology; Advanced Engineering; Global Asia in the 21st Century (GA21); Monash-Industry Palm Oil Education and Research; Brain Research Institute Monash Sunway (BRIMS); and a multidisciplinary health and demographic surveillance site, the South East Asian Community Observatory (SEACO).

BRIMS is internationally recognised and undertakes ground-breaking research on neurological diseases and identifying drug targets using natural plants that are indigenous to the region. SEACO follows a community of 35,000 people in Johor and supports world-class research in health and well-being. Both BRIMS and SEACO have already attracted collaborations from the Asia-Pacific region and Europe.

Vibrant campus environment
In addition to a vibrant campus experience with excellent catering facilities, food outlets, gymnasium and outdoor swimming pool, the Sunway City township in which the campus is situated offers numerous shopping and leisure opportunities within walking distance. Students can also take advantage of many clubs and societies that organise exciting events, be it flea markets and competitions or cultural and music festivals.

Monash University Malaysia is in a unique position to offer the very best in higher education that is possible within Malaysia and the region. We believe in the potential of our students and staff and challenge them to change the world - and some have.
