Life at JCU
One of the most appealing aspects of living in a tropical location is the relaxed lifestyle. We take the time to appreciate the natural beauty of our surroundings and enjoy the weather that is warm and sunny almost every day of the year.
Diverse mix of cultures
Northern Queensland is a popular holiday destination for tourists from overseas and other parts of Australia. The regional cities of Cairns and Townsville have a lower cost of living compared to the major Australian capital cities and the friendly local communities feature a diverse mix of cultures.
We are here to help
JCU aims to make you feel safe and welcome from your very first day as a university student. Our International Student Support team provide services to help you adapt well to university life and to ensure that you feel at home in Australia.
Opportunities to make new friends
You will join a global community of over 22,000 students including 7,000 international students from over 100 countries. There will be plenty of opportunities to make new friends with regular on-campus activities and special-interest clubs to get involved in.
Natural wonders
With amazing natural wonders like the World-Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef and the ancient tropical rainforests of the Wet Tropics close by, you will also have plenty to do when you’re not in the classroom.
