TEACHING & ASSESSMENT
It’s our mission to prepare you for the future, to give you hands-on practical and technical knowledge that reflects the way they do it in the industry and develops alongside it as technology changes; to invest in you the critical reasoning and mental smarts to deal with every situation.
Our uniquely balanced teaching and assessment methods combine face-to face classroom sessions and practical studio time that deliver savvy business and tech skills as well as real-life experience. It’s important to attend and participate in both to ensure you pass each subject and get the most out of your time at JMC.
Teaching and learning is based on the shared obligation to present content information and practical skills, and to then assess student achievement in a timely manner within each semester. It is the responsibility of all students to submit assignments and deliver project work, participate in presentations and sit exams by the due dates.
Assessments include exams, interviews, production projects, assignments and/or practical exercises. All units (modules) are graded. At the beginning of each unit of study you will be given a Unit Overview, which describes what you will cover during the module and the assessment tasks that need to be completed. You will also be given an assessment brief detailing the context, assessment task, submission requirements, assessment criteria and reference material.
Students may also have the opportunity to participate in Performance Showcases that are held regularly throughout the year.

PROJECTS OFFER REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE
Our unique integration program enables students from all departments to work together on collaborative projects, providing them with a diverse opportunity in which to apply their skills. This also provides students with the opportunity to grow their creative network while they study; a unique advantage of studying at JMC Academy.
The integration projects encourage JMC Academy students to understand the workings and importance of an integrated network of promoters, distributors, producers and buyers, and the impact they have on their own financial success.
Through these integrated projects students are able to gain hands-on experience in how the real industry operates, invaluable when beginning a professional career in their chosen field. Integration between the courses is best exemplified by the student music video clip and television commercial projects, and by preparation and participation in the student showcase nights.
One example of students collaborating with industry was a project with music publisher TheMusic.com.au and Warner Music, where students from JMC Academy's Film and Television, and Audio Engineering departments integrated to film and record famous Australian acts Stonefield, Pajama Club, Eskimo Joe and more.
Watch as Animation, Game Development and Digital Design students integrate, developing a solution to social problems, through a creative, digital medium.
